You get 5 stars from me for pulling through after working for years on this game! Good job!

I like the atmosphere and interface. Since you also ask for critique, here are some ideas fo improvement:
- Please don't make CTRL the Run key. CTRL + W closes the window in Chrome browser, which meant that after customizing my character and getting to play the game for the first time, it suddenly shut down when I tried to run up. Normally I wouldn't reload a game after that experience, but I did in this case just to come back and comment.
- Please give some directions or a map - with nowhere specifically to go, and no record of where I've been, I feel like I'm walking in circles in the forest after 5 minutes. The battle interruptions are enough to disorient me.
- There is noticeable lag, which it should be perfectly possible to prevent.
- How to open the save game menu should be explained early on.

Well, just my two cents. Once again, good job.

RockLou responds:

Thank you so much for the in-depth review!

The running is already fixed. I have thought about this before and you convinced me - now you always run. You cannot toggle running.

Directions come sometimes throughout the story, when I figure the player may need help with directions. There aren't any in the beginning because I thought it was easy enough to find your way.

I wish I could fix the lag, I have tried to. But nothing I did was ever enough. You may fix it by pressing F1 to change the quality to low.

You might be right about the last point. But I was hoping people would find the 'save game' and 'main menu' in the inventory pretty easily.

Great way of telling the story. Makes you feel the pain, loneliness, and sorrow :-( Just hang in there, man.

ItsTheAshtray responds:

Nice, thanks!

I just get a black screen after I press play. Testing in Chrome.

immo87 responds:

I know that there are some chrome issues, but it is nothing big. I think that you got black screen because the game was not loaded properly... I am gonna to find some better server which should solve this!

Clearly an ambitious project, so here's some constructive criticism.
* Team up with an artist to make the game shine - especially the menus could use some work.
* It's too hard to figure out how the missiles and torpedos work - maybe it just need better explanation, maybe the controls themselves could be made easier.
* The only viable tactic right now seems to be chasing the enemy in a sort of figure 8 pattern. If there were obstacles on the levels, such as large asteroids or space debris, it could create some more variation.
I definitely think you should keep working on the game, it's a good idea and could become really fun to play if it's tweaked sufficiently.

Pack51 responds:

Thank you, I will definitely take those points into account.

Good job

Nice to see the improvements from the demo. The sudden death ending felt a bit unfair, since I don't see how it could be avoided by playing cleverly. Is it just luck that detrmines the outcome, or did I miss something?

dawnland responds:

Hi, and thanks for the review!
I've tried to balance the game play, but yes - luck (or the lack thereof) might have you dead before you have found the stuff you need etc.

I am gathering feedback and I will probably add some descriptions (that explain what happened) and see to it that one CAN avoid death by playing cleverly.
Thanks again!

Good job

This has got to be one of the most poetic flash games I've played this year- I hope it gets the big attention it deserves. The theme translates very well to the actual gameplay. Flash minmalism at its best.

Bakariboss responds:

Thanks. That's just what I was going for. I really like Immortall.

Good job

It's pretty rare for a flash game to quote Meister Eckhart, so I'll rate 10 just for that, all pretense aside. It feels a bit strange that the word HAPPY is unclickable at first, when asked whether the Goethe quote makes the player HAPPY or SAD - is that a bug? Keep it up, make dramatize your next game more - it's great when philosophy can be expressed through actual gameplay.

Sidorio responds:

Are you being ironic or not? I can't tell because they're basically the same thing and I don't want to loose my indie cred.

Reviewing unfinished stuff

The background is cool, but you should make the tiefighter less static and make it shoot proper lasers (beams like in the movies, not bullets). Right now it's hardly a game, hence the low score.

polyrhythmm responds:

its not a game... its a demo... if i had made them shoot back... then i would have finished it.

Okay engine

The engine seems okay - but you should make a game to show what it's capable of, since it's kind of hard to judge from just one room. Are you going to make the engine open source?

iluvAS responds:

HELL YEA IM MAKING A GAME OUTTVE IT! ive worked on the engine and just decided to post it on ng as i just want to see ppls responses ^^ and no it wont be open source.

needs a bit of work

The game could do with a bit of introduction - who's the character, what is the story?

Also, the character seems to float above the platforms instead of actually standing on them, which is a bit odd.

I think the death sequence should be quicker. there's no need to follow the character off screen and wait three seconds for the death scream, that's a bit annoying.

But looks lik a decent concept for a platformer overall, and the mushroom character is fun.

Piddlepop responds:

the game is random, hence the name, but I can see where your coming at.

Look out for my next game which, is similar to this, but way more challenging and fun.
